From Principal Steve - Professional Learning Day for Teachers

Dear Parents and Carers,

A friendly reminder - Brighton Primary School will conduct a professional learning day for teachers on Friday 28th April 2023 (Week 1 Term 2). There will be no school for students on this day.

Our teachers will be engaged in a full day of professional learning focused on writing with consultant, Emina McLean. Click on this link if you are interested in reading posts on Emina's blog. This professional learning is essential for our teachers so we can continue to strengthen and improve teaching and learning for our students.

Unfortunately, our writing consultant, Emina McLean is unavailable on Monday 24th April - the day prior to the ANZAC day holiday on Tuesday 25th April.

We have seen significant growth in student learning outcomes since 2019 as a result of our robust professional learning program for teachers. For example, our grade 5 students scored first in reading, second in writing and third in numeracy on the NAPLAN assessments in 2022 when compared with four local independent schools. Please refer to the graphic attached. While I understand these professional learning days may inconvenience some families, please also be aware these full days of professional learning for teachers have a significant impact on strengthening student learning.

TeamKids will be available for those families requiring Out of School Hours Care on Friday 28th April 2023. Please contact TeamKids on 1300 035 000 or teamkids.com.au to register your child.

With best wishes for a safe and happy holiday break,

Steve
