Into The Woods

In July we had the 2016 school production of Into The Woods play to sell out  crowds  for three nights.

Students reflections:

As chief choreographer and Rapunzel in Into The Woods production for 2016 and assistant choreographer and Sandy in Grease during 2015. I can assure everyone that the production of one of the most fantastic opportunities that this school can offer. Students from year seven to twelve are involved through acting, backstage, production, the band and front of house. It is so inspiring to watch others act and become friends as a close-knit group. This year, Into The Woods had a challenging musical score but every student and staff member involved rose to the occasion and produced a spectacular final product. Highlight of the show being Katie dramatically ending her high school career by faceplanting impressively down the stairs (she was fine!)

My name is Patrick Holmes and I was The Baker in Into The Woods this year. The school productions have given me the opportunity to realise what my passion is, that being performing on stage with my peers. Not only that, but the productions have let me form strong bonds with my peers through performing and developing a production. It also allows different kinds of people to come together, with backstage, organising things for rehearsals and performances or playing in the band. With the production, I have made long lasting memories that I will cherish forever, as corny as it sounds.

As someone who has been involved in the school productions for five out of the six of my secondary years, I have so many fond memories to take away when I leave CSC. I could not have wished for a better musical in my final year. Being cast as the witch in Into The Woods was an incredible experience; the witch was an exciting character to play and as is the case every year, it was an absolute pleasure to work with all the staff and students who get involved. Performing in the Town Hall for the first time created some new challenges but the ITW team sorted through it all and put on, if I do say so myself, an excellent production.

Music

On Sunday 11th September the Music Department will once again be showcasing our VCE Music Performance and Music Investigation students performing pieces from their end of year programs. The Spring Recital is a major fundraiser for the Music Support Group and families are invited to come and support the Music Program through enjoying the music and a shared supper and glass of wine in the beautiful surrounds of the Castlemaine Art Gallery. Students and families from Years 7-9 are particularly welcome to see our senior students performing and to inspire them in their music development and practice.
