Cochrane Cup 2018

On Wednesday 6th June, forty secondary students travelled to Armidale to participate in Cochrane Cup in Netball and Rugby League.

The Rugby League boys had some tough opposition and played some hard football against the four other secondary schools in our diocese. A massive congratulations to Layne Raveneau for being selected to attend the U15’s Armidale Diocesan Rugby League trials early in 2019.

Three girls' teams also competed at the Lynches Road netball courts on that day.

The 9/10 girls won three of their five matches, playing some great netball in terrible conditions.

The 7/8 teams had some tough competition, with the A team coming away with one win.

Well done to the students who displayed great sportsmanship and represented St Philomenas with pride.

Polding Cross Country

On Friday our talented cross country runners competed at the Polding Cross Country at Eastern Creek. Zara Cogan (3rd), Angus Reardon (25th), Archie Crawford (10th), Ned Farrell (10th), Hugh Reardon (30th), Jack Gobbert (8th), Henry Hayes ( 24th), Caleb Scholl (20th) and Alex Reardon (34th) all competed extremely well against some of the states' best cross country runners. Zara Cogan will now represent Polding at the NSW PSSA Cross Country Championships in July. We are very proud of everyone who competed and wish Zara the very best next term.

NETBALL NSW SCHOOLS CUP

Today fifty secondary students have travelled to Narrabri to compete in the NSW Netball Schools Cup. All teams are looking to better last year's success by getting all five teams to the regional finals in Tamworth which are held next term.  We are competing in all boy and girl age divisions from Years 7 to 10. Good luck to all teams.

NSWCCC TOUCH

This Tuesday and Wednesday, two of our Year Ten students will travel to Penrith to compete at the NSWCCC Touch Championships as part of the Armidale Diocese Senior Girls Touch Team.

We wish both Abbie-Lee Gray and Cara Heinemann the best of luck as they participate in this touch carnival. To be selected as bottom age students in a diocesan representative team is a huge achievement.
