What if my child has to stay away from school?
If your child has to be absent from school, you must inform the school and provide a reason for your child’s absence.
A small number of absences may be accepted by the principal.
For example, if your child has to
- Attend a special religious ceremony
- Is required to attend to a serious and/or urgent family situation (e.g. a funeral)
- Is too sick to go to school or has an infectious illness.
How can you provide a reason for absence?
There are a number of options available to notify the school:
- Skoolbag app - eForms
- email to admin@stphilomenasmoree.catholic.edu.au
- send in a written note
OR
- call the school
NAIDOC Week Celebrations
This year's theme for NAIDOC Week is "Because of Her We Can... "
As pillars of our society, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play - active and significant roles at community, local, state and national levels. They are our mothers, our elders, our grandmothers, our aunties, our sisters and our daughters. Their achievements, their voice, their unwavering passion give us strength and have empowered past generations and paved the way for generations to come. Because of her, we can!
St Philomena's School will celebrate NAIDOC Week during Week 10, commencing on Monday 2nd July with a welcome morning tea at 11am followed by our flag raising ceremony and semester awards at 11:30. All parents and friends are invited to attend our morning tea and flag raising. Parents of students receiving awards will receive a personal invitation to stay for the awards ceremony.
On Thursday 5th July we will have traditional games for K-6 and students. Staff and visitors are invited to share in a BBQ lunch at 1pm. After lunch there will be the much anticipated staff versus 7-10 student touch and netball games. We are hoping there may be some parents able to play/ref/umpire these highly contended matches and assist with the running of the traditional games. Please contact Mary Davison: mdavison@arm.catholic.edu.au or the office if you are able to help.
For catering purposes, please RSVP if you are planning to attend our morning tea / BBQ.
