Welcome Back Picnic – ELC to Year 6
Thank you to our community for coming along and supporting the Kilvington Welcome Back Picnic.
It was a fantastic turnout. Hopefully, you connected with your friends and made some new ones.
Thank you to the PFA, staff and students for helping out on the night.
Kelpies Running Club
The Tuesday morning running club is going well with good numbers each week. All students and staff are welcome.
Meet at the breezeway at 7.25am. Kelpies run ‘rain, hail or shine’.
The Kelpies will run in their first 'Park Run' around Karkarook Park on Saturday 18 March at 8.00am. This is a free community event open to runners of all abilities and it's not too late to be involved. See Steve Bustin or Ben Bishop for details.
School Photos
Prep to Y12 photos will take place on Tuesday 21 March. Please note students are required to wear full summer uniform with their blazer. Further details will be provided shortly. Please see the attached information to assist with the ordering process.
The Impact of Pornography Parent Seminar
The impact of pornography on young people has been described as an emerging public health crisis. What can parents do? The issue will be addressed in a free seminar for parents hosted by Independent Schools Victoria on Wednesday 15 March 2017, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Hugh Martin, a psychotherapist and founder of the Man Enough program, will provide expert advice and lead the discussion.
The seminar - the first of The Parent Seminars at ISV program - will be held at the ISV offices at 40 Rosslyn Street, West Melbourne, and light refreshments will be served. ISV is close to public transport, and there is plenty of parking.
To register, send your name to Student.Services@is.vic.edu.au with the words ‘Parent Seminar’ in the subject line.
Nut Allergies
In order to minimise the risk of a student having an anaphylactic reaction at school caused by coming into contact with nuts, parents are asked to assist the School, wherever possible, by not allowing their child/ren to bring or eat nuts at school. A school can never claim to be nut free, however, in the interests of the safety of all community members and to minimise the risk to others, we do discourage the bringing and eating of nuts at school.
School Supervision
Senior School
- The school is supervised from 8.00am each morning. After 3.50pm, Senior School students not involved in after school supervised activities are to go to the Library where they will be supervised until 5.00pm (Monday to Thursday) and until 4.00pm (Friday). There is no supervision of Senior School students after 5.00pm as the School is closed.
Junior School
- The school is supervised from 8.00am each morning, Junior School students not collected by 3.50pm will be taken to Extend After School Care where they can be supervised until 6.00pm (Monday to Friday). For students already enrolled with Extend this will incur a casual booking fee. If this is the first time a booking has been made, the annual Enrolment fee will also be charged. For students not enrolled at the time of the first booking, a higher annual Enrolment fee is charged by Extend.
- To ensure the safety of all students, parents are asked not to drop off their child/ren before 8.00am, or pick them up after the times designated above.
Playground Equipment Supervision
Students are supervised before school, recess and lunchtimes on the playground equipment located in the School by Kilvington staff. At any other time, if parents/guardians allow their children to play on the School’s playground equipment then the supervision of any children and responsibility for their safety and care resides totally with parents/guardians.
Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)
CSEF will be provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the School to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
