Reminders

A friendly reminder for parents of Year 5 students considering a Catholic secondary school for their child that applications must be made directly to your preferred school by August the 21st.

School Uniform: Students are required to wear their Sports Uniform on Thursday and Friday.

Full school uniform is required to be worn every day, except for Thursday and Friday.  Please email your child's homeroom teacher if he/she is out of uniform for any reason.

iPads: All students are required to have a fully charged  iPad at school every day. If your child does not have their iPad, please email his/her homeroom teacher to let us know the reason and how long they will be without it. We will then make temporary alternative arrangements.

We ask that all students have an active Google account and the following Google applications on their iPad: Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets. We will use Google Classroom to communicate with students, set tasks in various subject areas and allow students to complete set tasks and hand in their work online. You are welcome to view your child’s Google Classroom as it will give you some insight of what your child is learning.

Confirmation

Our Year 6 Confirmation candidates are in the final stages of preparing for their final Sacrament of Initiation, we are looking forward to when this goes ahead. Our candidates are extremely fortunate to have been educated and guided by Deacon James Baptist, who is in residency at our parish during first semester, through the preparation process. All the 5/6 students have been exposed to a range of scripture about the Fruits of The Holy Spirit and the concept of Initiation as an introduction for next year. The Religious Education unit this term has been based around giving students the opportunity to have a range of experiences allowing them to choose activities which are engaging and relevant to them.

Homework Expectations

Diaries: The school diary is a vital part of the student’s organisational skills and a method of communication between school and home. The students must bring their diary to school every day. Their reading must be recorded every night, signed by a parent or carer and handed in every Friday.

Reading: Students are expected to read at least 4 nights a week (20 minutes of reading per night).  We encourage students to read independently and to someone. We also encourage you to read to your child! Their reading must be recorded every night, signed by a parent or carer and handed in every Friday.

Novels: Students should ensure they have their personal novel and any reading materials given to them by their reading teacher, at school every day.

Spelling: Students should complete 4 homework tasks and 3 school tasks per week. School tasks are done between 8.45am-9.00am. Homework tasks are to be completed at home and signed by a parent or carer.

Mathematics: Please continue to explore Sunset Maths for 20 minutes per night.

Learning Tasks: If students don't complete school work during learning time, they will be required to complete it at home.
