Extend After School Care at Kilvington Grammar School

Our Recap
It finally feels as though spring has arrived! The beautiful weather on offer has seen all of us at ASC spend so much, if not all of our time, outside! Soccer, 4-square, Totem Tennis and badminton were some of the great games initiated by the kids on The Green. Others had a great time being architects in the sand making some very intricate castles, moats and bridges! Whilst many also enjoyed swinging on the monkey bars and hanging upside down!
Two weeks ago saw the children embrace and learn a few things about Halloween! To start the week, we discussed some of the ideas that the children had about it. The two things that were said over and over again was getting dressed up into some super scary costumes and getting lollies! So of course we made some lanterns that doubled as bags for all the lollies the kids would get!
Throughout the week we also made some scary eyeball biscuits that were scoffed down as quick as they were made! Later in the week the children participated in a science experiment to see which of their favourite lollies were acidic. Using water and some baking powder, we tested Mentos, Life Savers, sherbet and a few other favourites. We were all very surprised with some of the results!
To end the week, which was the highlight, the kids had a go at ‘Apple Bobbing’! Being blindfolded and diving their faces into a bucket full of water saw plenty of smiles and water being splashed around on a warn day!
After a big Cup weekend, we had a short week which everyone enjoyed. To start we made a delicious Weetbix slice that was scrumptious! It was all very healthy until we were a bit cheeky and decided to add a little bit of chocolate to the top of it. We rounded out the week by doing some great ‘Thumb Paintings’. It was great to see some of the portraits created by using only a bit of paint and just our thumbs! Like every other week, the kids are showing much better skills than I!
