Principal's Message

Welcome

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all families and members of the Trinity College community as we commence the 2023 academic year. I offer my prayerful best wishes for a wonderful, safe and positive year ahead. A special welcome is extended to those students and families who are new to our College. I trust your relationship as an important part of our community will be an enjoyable and rewarding one.

Our College Support Staff returned to work several weeks ago attending to an array of administrative and operational tasks in preparing for the school year. Similarly, our Teaching Staff returned earlier than usual to participate in a series of Professional Learning days and Learning Area meetings in preparation for classes which commenced this week.

Of course, Monday saw all of our students from Year 4 -12 commence their classes. As tends to be typical, they were greeted with very hot conditions, but deserve much praise for the way they presented and the manner in which they successfully commenced their respective classes with little fuss. Likewise, our College staff should be acknowledged for the manner in which they greeted, directed and supported students and moved quickly into the rhythm of the timetable.

Once again, I would like to thank the many members of our College community who have offered our Staff such a warm welcome as we commenced this academic year. It has been very humbling to receive the many good wishes, encouragement, blessings and messages of support from families. As the College Principal, I am very grateful for such a positive and sincere welcome and genuinely appreciate that it reflects the sense of community and genuine care that exists at Trinity College.

Tuesday morning saw students, staff and many parents gather for a very special whole College Assembly in which we were able to welcome new students to our College and acknowledge some students from our Leaving Class of 2022 by recognising their outstanding academic achievements from last year.

Welcome and greeting is an important part of any community. As part of our Trinity College community, we were able to experience and celebrate the very special tradition of piping in those students joining our school for the first time. Students from Year 4, those many students commencing in Year 7, and those students across other year groups beginning at Trinity College this year, were formally welcomed into our school.

A Piping Ceremony is steeped in tradition and is symbolic of recognising one’s arrival and honouring their presence. It was a lovely moment enjoyed by students, staff and the many proud parents present. It is important as a school seeking to be inclusive and welcoming, that such an invitation to community is always apparent and always respectful. Similarly, the opportunity to acknowledge our various Academic Award recipients – both our current students for their achievements throughout last year; and our recent Graduates who were inducted in to the 97 Club in recognition of their achievements in the recent WACE Examinations, was done respectfully and sincerely.

Various Colours and Half Colours were presented for excellent academic achievement and similarly, Crown Awards were presented to a large number of students acknowledging their consistent pursuit of excellence, reflected in their outstanding application and commitment to their studies. In a wonderful address to the Assembly, 2022 College Dux and recipient of a General Exhibition Award, Myles Brown spoke of his own approach to personal excellence, the need to be grateful to the many opportunities provided at Trinity College, and concluded by challenging all boys to reach for their own personal best while acknowledging the many others who support such a journey.

It was a very special way to commence our academic year and we pray for a positive and safe year ahead.

Live Jesus in our hearts.
