Cyber Safety Project - Ensuring a Whole School Approach to Digital Wellbeing
Cyber Safety
On Monday 6th February, Kiah and Sam from the Cyber Safety Project visited our school to talk all about the importance of being safe online and our online wellbeing.
Each learning community was presented with age-appropriate content on what it means to be 'cyber safe' and how to protect themselves online.
Sam and Kiah made the sessions engaging and informative and gave students the opportunity to be active participants through some very relatable discussions and activities! Kiah and Sam spoke so highly of our students' participation in these sessions!
As part of a whole school approach to cyber safety, staff also undertook a professional development session with the Cyber Safety Project. They were given up-to-date information about changes to legislation in the digital sphere, access to resources to implement in the classroom and information to educate parents at home on how to create a ‘cyber safe’ environment.
1:1 Chromebook Program
A big thank you to all the Year 3 students, parents and new families, who attended our Information session on Monday night. It was great to see the excitement in the room for those students who are now able to have 1:1 Chromebooks.
The benefits of our 1:1 Chromebook Program means that students will have:
- Greater access to real-time information
- Ease of access to classwork both at school and at home
- Independent, self-initiated learning
- Collaboration amongst learners and educators.
Information and Communication Technology Student Access Agreement
In line with our focus on promoting responsible and safe behaviors when using digital technology, in the coming days your child will be asked to sign our Information and Communication Technology Student Access Agreement form. This form is updated and handed out each year as a reminder of how we responsibly use digital technology across our school.
The form outlines our school’s current digital platforms and how these are best used to maximize our students' education. It covers the school’s digital tools and computer network, how to be cyber safe and the consequences of misuse.
In order to ensure we maximize learning, while maintaining responsible ICT usage, it is important that both students and parents are aware of our policy. We ask that you take the time to go through this policy with your child.
