OGEA & Community Schools

By Bob Prola

By now, you have probably seen the posts in our weekly updates about community schools.  OGEA leadership has been exploring this idea, which is supported by CTA, to see if this is right for Oak Grove School District.  OGEA members recently attended a virtual presentation about community schools from CTA.  The state of California has committed to ongoing funding to support districts who implement community schools.  The shared decision making model inherent in this idea has the potential to transform our schools and improve opportunities for our students.

We are currently encouraging you, the membership of OGEA, to learn more about community schools.  We will only be able to successfully move forward if OGEA members support this.

Please read the article that is coming out in The California Educator magazine and continue to look for more information from CTA and OGEA about community schools.
