Hello, OGEA Members!

We have passed the 100th Day of the 2022-2023 school year!

We have been hosting dinners to have conversations with our OGEA Psychologists and Speech and Language Pathologists. Our Negotiations Committee Chair and Members have also been in attendance to learn more about their work in Oak Grove and ways that we can seek improvements. Our next dinner will be for our Special Education Teachers, including our SDC, ED, APE, and RSP teachers, on March 22, 2023

Our Executive Board has expanded to include a Director to represent each of the Learning Communities. Our Directors include Virginia Beaulieu (Davis Learning Community),

Skye Johnson (Bernal Learning Community), and Yohanna Roldan (Herman Learning Community). They will be holding gatherings and will invite each Learning Community, so be sure to stay tuned for more information!

We have also added an elected Equity and Inclusion Director, Kirat Sachdev. She will be coordinating with our Equity Committee.

Coming up is the Legislative Brunch! This year it will be held at the Hayes Mansion on April 1, 2023 from 8:30-11:00 A.M. We will have a round table discussion with legislators regarding public education and our needs and concerns. This is an opportunity for us to advocate for more funding and share our stories from our schools! Let me know if you would like to attend. OGEA will RSVP and pay for your attendance.

We just hosted a Community Schools presentation last week with our CTA Organizer, Memo Durgin. We are currently organizing another Community Schools presentation at a school site in the Davis Learning Community. Details to come soon!

Have an enjoyable February Break!

In Unity,

Maripaz Berlin
