A message from Mrs Warner

Girraween set for another

              bumper year !

Welcome back to a another great year of learning. I hope you had an exceptional break with your loved ones. I spent my holidays abroad, celebrating the season with my family, like many of you. However I am very excited to be back at school and back to our wonderful country Australia.

Teachers are busily planning events including excursion, camps and carnivals.

This year we have enrolled 1163 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Every student has been placed in classes with our exceptional teachers.

Whilst welcoming our students and staff, many of you may have noticed our exceptional Deputy Principal, Mrs Needham has returned. We are very excited to have her back at our school.

2023  sees the school being rebuilt and refurbished. Our project will be going to tender very shortly and once complete we will share the plans with you. I can let you know our build will feature state of the art classrooms, breakout learning spaces and amazing playground areas. The three year project will be an exciting addition to our school.

I would also like to remind families of safety at drop off and pick up time. NSW Police and Council Rangers have been spending time at our school enforcing rules. These patrols will be on a regular basis. Fines are very large as you are committing an offence in a school zone. We encourage all families to walk to and from school. Not only is it good for your health and well being but is also a much safer option for you and your family.

Finally I would like to thank Miss Susan Kendall, our Learning Support Officer who has made the decision to retire. Susan has been an integral part of GPS for some time. We wish her all the best. We also wish Miss Maha, from our front office, all the best as she moves onto a new position with NSW DoE corporate offices. Maha has assisted many families as they transition into our school. Her skills, expertise and friendly nature will be sorely missed across the school. We thank both ladies for all they have done for Girraween.

I look forward to seeing you all in and around the school

Mrs Warner

Principal
