Musical

We have started the year hitting the ground running and are thrilled to begin working on this year’s Musical, Shrek. We had the Musical information session last Friday and are appreciative of the many students who attended, demonstrating there is a lot of enthusiasm for the show. Directed by Mr Jevon Scandrett, and Musical Director, Ms Robyn Cole, the Musical team have been hosting auditions all week and are looking forward to announcing the Cast and Band very soon.

Songsters

We are excited to get Songsters back up and running with a fresh, new feel for 2023! Previously, Songsters has been a program open to all students in Years 1-6. This year, Songsters is condensing to a choir of 40 members made up of students in Years 2-5. This will allow Songsters to establish themselves as an ensemble alongside the other junior ensembles within the College, with a focus on fine-tuning specific choir, musicianship, performance, and vocal skills.

Students in Year 6 who wish to participate in a choir, will have the opportunity to join Aitken Voices.

Expression of Interest notices have been emailed to families of students in Years 2-5, with a form to complete to register your child’s interest in joining Songsters. Please refer to this Expression of Interest form for more details.

Theatre Club

One of our Performing Arts Captains, Jasmine E, began Theatre Club on Monday at lunchtime. Again, the student turnout was incredible, showing a keen interest in Drama, Film, Musical Theatre and Stagecraft. Jasmine and Ms Zijai will be running this club every Monday at lunch for students in Years 6-12 who are interested in learning about these areas, developing confidence, or just interested in making new friends in the Performing Arts.
