Love Letters to Footy

Love Letters to Footy Part 2
During our isolation time some children in Year 3/4 have been competing in a writing competition for the 3AW radio station. It was a Love Letter to Footy for the Ross Stevenson’s show. Please enjoy some of our letters.
Dear Footy, I love you
This season has been difficult because we haven't been able to watch you. Every year the season is so exciting, most weekends heading to the games, with my dad. We got dressed up, in our team colours with matching scarves and jumpers. Sometimes, mum joins us at the game, at the MCG and we get to high 5 the players as they run out from the club rooms onto the ground. On special days, there are kids activities and lots of excitement. Sometimes I get a fake tattoo or my face painted in the colours of my team.
When our game is at Marvel Stadium we catch the train in and all the passengers seem happy and excited on the way to the ground. Everyone would be talking about individual players, their performance and many injuries. The closer we get to the ground the atmosphere builds with everyone busy getting their tickets, meeting friends and finding their seats.
The roar of the crowd is sometimes really loud and I see little kids blocking their ears. Especially when the siren to start the match sounds! The closer you sit in the boundary line, the more you can hear the players, you can hear the smacking sound of the footy when it meets the players footy boot and powers through sometimes getting a goal!
Getting to go on the oval sometimes when the game has finished, and we get to play kick with my dad, my sister and sometimes my friends is also a highlight I miss.
Footy, I miss you, I really hope to see you soon. I hope you are as excited to get back on the ground as I am to see you play.

Dear Footy,
I love you because I have so much fun when I g
o to see you! It doesn't matter if it is raining and cold, we still get to go and see you. I follow Carlton, I think they are the best team and all my family goes for Carlton too. But you can go for whoever you want to follow, there are lots of teams to choose from.
I love when I arrive as there are lots of people in their team colours, music playing and lots of things to see and eat! I always go to see you with my dad and my brother, Noah. My dad always buys us food from the shops you have there. I get a pie and a lolly and Noah gets a hotdog and an ice-cream.
My favourite thing about you is that I get to meet my favourite players and get their autographs and photos with them. I also like seeing friends and meeting new people, lots of people talk to me because they see I go for the same team as them.
I miss being able to come and see you and can not wait to come and see you again.
Love from Bella D
P.S - Go Blues!!!
Dear Footy,
I love you and miss you. You were really fun to watch and really entertained me when I would go to watch a game or just stay at home and watch. I loved how you wouldn't give up and kept on playing the game. I also really liked how you showed good sportsmanship and would say good game, good game. The times you would win a final was a really happy time for those who won. For footy I really do miss it and how you just kept on trying even though you might have lost a game or in a final you kept on trying no matter what. Sometimes you may get injured but I really miss how you recovered and nothing could stop you from playing your favorite sport. I hope none of this happens again so you can keep on playing and we don't have to wait a long time just to see you play.

Dear Footy, I love you!
I miss watching you on TV, I wish I could play with you. How much do you miss it? Footy is awesome! It makes kids have a happy life with their family. Footy is good for a lot of people because you can catch up with your friends! You are amazing, you can kick so far! I want to be just like you. I miss getting food, I miss cheering and making new friends. I miss training, catching up with my friends and running in games.

Dear Footy,
I love you because dad and I really want to see you again.
We are begging for footy to come back. Dad and I love our footy. Dad, my youngest brother Ollie and I go for Essendon, while my other brother Aaron and my mum go for Collingwood. My nana and pa go for Essendon too! My other nana and pa go for Collingwood and my oldest nana goes for St kilda. My Aunty Megs and Uncle Dave go for Collingwood but my big cousin Josh goes for the Bulldogs. We all love grand finals, we all get together and party all night and day. My guinea pigs go for Essendon and my birds go for Essendon too! I like it when the players kick goals.
I hope the players feel well and are ok when footy goes back.
I really want there to be a grand final this year because I enjoy footy with my family.
It feels different at the moment because there’s no footy on TV. I missed being able to watch Collingwood vs Essendon on ANZAC day, because that’s one of my favorite games of the season.
My favorite part of Auskick is how I kick the ball all the time. Some of my friends were there so we got to play together. We used to have a sausage after we finished playing.
My brother Aaron and I like to play footy together in the park or backyard. Ollie is still too little to play but he will be old enough soon.
We have been playing kick to kick at our local footy ground when we go for our walks.
My favorite player is Hepple. I miss watching Essendon matches.
When I play footy I like to kick goals.
I hope footy comes back soon,
Love Jackson C
