2021 will hopefully see our community head back to normality and the resumption of full on-site Technology classes at MSC.

With this focus, it seems an appropriate time to review the OHS practices within each of the domain areas; Food, Fabric, Materials – Wood, Materials – Metal, Systems, Energy Breakthrough and IT, and the safety requirements and PPE that each requires to ensure the safety of all students undertaking classes in Technology.

All the Subject Teachers in the Domain view student safety and the teaching of safe working practices in line with industry standards, as a major focus in our teaching programs.

It is an expectation that each student has their own Safety Glasses and follows all safety related instruction.

- Safety Glasses are included in the Book Lists for each year level and are a standard requirement for undertaking Practical work in Technology classes. Not having access to safety glasses may prohibit your child taking part in essential learning activities.

In both Food and Materials aprons are supplied by the College for shared use. These are laundered and sanitised at regular intervals to maintain their condition. In certain classes Overalls and Welding PPE are also supplied for student use.

During certain class activities, students may be asked to wear hats to contain their hair (MSC School Hats only). This will be done under Teacher instruction and to ensure hygiene protocols or when power-tool use is being undertaken to prevent entanglement or injury.

It is the Technology Domains priority to ensure the safety of our students in our classes. With your assistance, we can achieve this.
