Performing Arts

A huge welcome! to all our Performing Arts students back for the year. We'd like to extend an especially warm welcome to any new students, especially the commencing Year 7 students. We hope that your time at Marian is happy and Drama filled (and Music/Dance!).

We also welcome a new member of staff to the Performing Arts team - Mr Justin Hockey. He will be joining Choir rehearsals as well as Concert Band and Production rehearsals. As a brass player, pianist and singer he is able to add much to our students experience of Music in the Performing Arts.

In this issue we have an update about the lessons and ensembles offered as part of the Performing Arts Co-Curricular Program. For more day to day information please check notices on the Seqta Notices and come to the Performing Arts office at Recess or Lunch or check in with your Performing Arts teacher if you have any further questions.

Creative Music teachers Annie, Cam and Vanessa will resume on-site teaching at Marian this year. For interested new students there are free lunchtime workshops in the first two weeks of term, to give students a chance to meet the teachers and hear more about the program.

The Week 2 dates are:

Wednesday 10 February at Lunch in Music 1 - Meet Cam, who teaches piano and voice

Thursday 11 February at Lunch in Music 1 - Meet Annie, who teaches piano and violin, and in Music 2 - Meet Vanessa, who teaches guitar (acoustic and electric), bass and ukelele.

New students are welcome. Expression of interest forms are available from Performing Arts teachers or the Performing Arts office. These forms give your details to Swee at Creative Music, who organises our timetable. This enables her to make contact with families to answer questions and then to enrol. You can also contact Mari Eleanor any time with queries by telephoning the school or email at: meleanor@mariansw.catholic.edu.au

Ensembles

In Week 1 meetings were held to organise the resumption of all ensembles in Performing Arts and rehearsals will mostly commence in Week 2. The current schedule looks like this:

Wednesday Lunch: Rock Band

Thursday Lunch: Ukelele Club

New members are welcome to join the Marian College Choir and the Ukelele Club. The College has a set of ukeleles available, and students are welcome to bring their own if they would like to for tuning assistance and to play on.

Production

Last year we had to postpone our production of Legally Blonde Jnr due to COVID-19. We hope to have more news about how the Production will run this year in the next issue.

Finally if you have any questions at all please feel free to contact Mari Eleanor any time with queries by telephoning the school or email at: meleanor@mariansw.catholic.edu.au
