Junior School Art Awards

A few weeks ago Mr Charlton presented the Junior School Art Awards for this year. Congratulations to the recipients.

Year 7 Assembly of Notables

This week, our Year 7 students participated in the final stage of their Assembly of Notables project - an initiative where students investigate and report on a notable historical or modern figure.

This culminated in visiting the Junior School dressed as their chosen 'notable' and sharing insights into how they have impacted/impact our society.

Some of our students' notables included Leonardo Da Vinci, Isaac Asimov, Malala Yousafzai, Florence Nightingale, and Charles Darwin.

Year 8 DAV Junior debating - reflection

Calista Yap, Year 8

Over the past two years, DAV debating has been interrupted due to COVID. Despite this, our teams, consisting of ten people, pulled through and did an incredible job. We were split into two teams, with six members on one and four on the other, but we all worked collaboratively to help each other on our debate speeches.

Our three debates were simultaneously held on Wednesday 24 November, with three from each team debating at a time. This meant that during our debates, some of us sat and watched the other team debate, allowing us to pick up on useful tips from other members.

Overall, we won five out of six of our debates, so an amazing job and great efforts from Claire Yu, Alessia Di Felice, Ruby Moore, Elijah Slavinskis, Owen Moy, Callan O'Connor, Sunny Zhu, Derek Huang and Lachie Cooper.

I can confidently say, on behalf of all of us, that DAV debating has been an enjoyable experience and we are all very grateful to have been part of this competition. Thank you to Ms Roncevic and Ms Broughton for their help.
