Goodbye Mr Jon

Lyn Pewtress, ELC Director

Mr Charlton, fondly known to our ELC friends as ‘Mr Jon’, can be seen visiting our Centre from time to time, mingling with the children and educators. Mr Jon also likes to drop-in for special occasions, such as a performance and even to celebrate his birthday!

Occasionally, Mr Jon is paid a visit by ELC children in his ‘fancy’ office (as described by a 5-year-old). Mr Jon is always welcoming, making time for his visitors and enjoying a bit of fun.

We will miss Mr Jon and his visits, and appreciate his dedication and support to our Centre. Mr Charlton has always endeavoured to ensure the ELC has held a firm place in the Kilvington School community, for which we are very grateful. We wish Mr Jon all the best on his next adventure.

Here are some thoughts from a few of our ELC members about Mr Jon …

Students:

Mia – Mr Charlton is the Principal. I sometimes see him behind the fence on the street outside – he says ‘hello’ .

Eva – Mr Jon is the Principal of the WHOLE School. He makes sure the School is safe and no one is being mean. He’s nice and he wears a tie.

Karissa – Mr Jon is getting older now. He’s the boss of the whole School. He’s a nice man.

Phoenix – Mr Jon always looks nice. He wears a blue coat and a tie.

Thomas – Mr Jon controls the School. I’ve seen him a few times while Dad’s been driving around the block. He just stands there.

Jensen – Mr Jon rules the School. He goes to see the students. He goes to every single place in the School. He wears ties – lots of them.

Hugo – Mr Jon is the boss of the whole School. If somebody does something really bad, Mr Jon comes and tells them off. He works a lot.

Finally, my colleagues and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our ELC families for their support and allowing us the privilege of educating their children.

This year, like no other, has been an extraordinary challenge, but I believe through the resilience of the children and those significant others around them, we have arrived at a positive conclusion to the end of a year.

To those families leaving Kilvington, we wish them well – we hope you take with you many happy memories of your time with us.

To all our extraordinary Magenta and Magnolia children who start School next year, we know you will thrive and continue to wonder, be amazed, curious, and inspired as you begin this new chapter of your life.
