Learning and Teaching

SWAP News

What a busy and different year we have had. We started with SWELL week and our incursion with lots of fun. During lock down in term 2 and 3 during remote learning, we focused on some of the Resilience Project key principles of Gratitude, Emotional literacy and Mindfulness.

In Terms 1 and 4 we had lunchtime social skills clubs where children could play a variety of different games and make new friends. During SWAP lessons we learnt to identify our personal strengths and how they can help us in life.

DT News

It has been wonderful teaching all the beautiful children of SFS. It has been such a pleasure to hear them ask, Do we have you today? What are we doing next time in DT? I love seeing the students work with such excitement and enthusiasm and will miss them all.

PE News

In Physical Education Lessons, after coming back from remote learning, the Junior students have been participating in Tennis.

The Senior students have been doing Tennis and also Cricket.

One of our highlights for this year was definitely our House Competitions!! The students thoroughly enjoyed the sports matches and competition. We would once again like to congratulate Grade 5/6 Teresa House and Grade 3/4 Patrick House. There are now new House Competition shields in our trophy cabinet.

Monday as part of the Grade 6 Fun Day, Grade 6 students were involved in soccer match against the teachers during 2nd lunch. The Grade 6s rotated playing against the teachers and then for the last few minutes we had all the Grade 6s who wanted to play on the field playing against the teachers. Highlights of the game included Angela being sent from the game and given time out by Anthony for kicking the ball before he blew his whistle and Rozeta as the goal keeper for the teachers screaming as the ball approached her. As you can see from the photos a great time was had by all!!

We would also like to congratulate our two Grade 6 recipients who received our sporting awards this year. Well done to Kian for receiving the School Sports Victoria Award which was in recognition of his exceptional academic and sporting achievements and to Alexis for receiving the SFS Sporting Award in recognition of her exceptional sporting achievements. Both Kian and Alexis represented SFS at District, Divisional and Regional levels. We are very proud of their efforts and know they will be a huge asset to which ever Secondary School they attend next year.

What a year CW has had, a spectacular group of children who have shown the world what it means to live in the footsteps of God and our Saint Francis de Sales. Using resilience as a cornerstone of our learning, they have inspired me each and every day. Credit to each and every of them for a special year that will stay in my heart forever.
