Alumni News

Aimee Craig, class of 2014, returned to MGC to speak with the year 7s about her experience at MGC and her pathway since.  As a producer and project manager of an afternoon drive time radio show at Nova Entertainment, Aimee’s job skills include searching the internet (including Tik Tok, Facebook and Twitter) for interesting content, giving away free petrol vouchers and other goodies, and staying on top of local, national, and international news and events.  Although the students were intrigued by the thought of a career that includes time spent searching social media sites, they were just as interested in Aimee’s second job – she teaches a podcasting class at a juvenile prison. One of the most impactful lessons Aimee taught the students was to consider what they enjoy, what they are good at, and try to incorporate that into a career.  Aimee’s outgoing personality is perfectly suited for motivational speaking – her best advice for the students was a quote she was once told by an MGC teacher, “do something your future self will thank you for.”

Melbourne Girls’ College joined the Ourschool Alumni Program Foundation Service beginning in 2020.  Ourschool is a not for profit service dedicated to helping public high schools establish and build their alumni networks to benefit students and strengthen public school communities.

When alumni return to the school, in person or virtually, to share their career pathways with current students, they become a relatable resource having recently walked the same halls at MGC.

If you are or know an alum who would like to share her post-MGC pathway with the alumni coordinator, email alumni@mgc.vic.edu.au
