NAPLAN Online - Years 3 & 5
Soon begins a very busy couple of weeks for our Year 3 and 5 students with NAPLAN testing starting next week; the first test will be Writing on Tuesday 11th May.
While NAPLAN testing provides useful data for students, parents and teachers in regards to core literacy and numeracy skills, it is important to remember that it is just a snapsot in time, and teachers use many other important tools to measure student progress in addition to NAPLAN. See the School TV section below for valuable information about how to help students avoid those 'exam jitters'.
The Year 3 and 5 testing schedule is:
Week | Day | Date | Test |
---|---|---|---|
3 | Tuesday | 11th May | Writing |
3 | Wednesday | 12th May | Reading |
3 | Wednesday | 12th May | Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar & punctuation) |
4 | Monday | 17th May | Numeracy |
All tests are completed online, with the exception of Year 3 Writing, which is a pen and paper test. Days within the fortnight that are not scheduled testing days will be used for catch-up testing.
Further information for parents and carers about NAPLAN can be found here:
I encourage all parents of students in Years 3 and 5 to explore the Public Demonstration Site with your child (click on button below). Here you will find sample questions for each of the areas assessed.
