Principal’s Message

Parents in Partnership with St Joseph's School

Dear Parents,

Research demonstrates that one of the most important factors to influence student learning is a strong partnership between parents and the school.  'With frequent interactions among school, families and communities, more students are more likely to receive common messages from various people about the importance of school, of working hard, of thinking creatively, of helping one another, and of staying in school'(Epstein, 1995; cited by Sharrat, 2012).  St Joseph's staff are committed to building strong partnerships with our school families by offering regular opportunities to get together to discuss and observe student learning in a contemporary space.  Our Three Way Learning Conferences in Term 1 is a great example of inviting parents to discuss their child's learning goals with all parties present - students, parents and teachers.  Another opportunity was through the Parent Learning Walks offered in Term 1.  Both events - three way conferences and the Parent Learning Walk were well attended, demonstrating strong parental support for the school and our focus on learning.

The second session of Parent Learning Walks will be held on Tuesday 25th May commencing at 9am until 10am.  It is aptly timed in line with Catholic Schools Week, an opportunity to reflect on all that is great about Catholic education and further build our partnership with parents.  Please call the Admin Office to RSVP. Numbers are limited to 12 adults. Another opportunity was provided last week through the Real Talk Parent Night.  It was a great success with many parents in attendance.  Two more events are coming up for parents - tomorrow night's P & F Meeting which will be at a slightly earlier time of 5.15pm - all welcome.  There is also a Parent Information Session for parents whose children will be receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.  This will be held in the Stage 1 room tomorrow night at 5.30pm.

Mother's Day

Please join us on Friday for our Mother's day Mass at 9am which will be followed by a special morning tea in the grounds.  The Mother's day stall is another great event organised by the

P & F Association - thanks to everyone who is able to help out on the day.

To all the mothers, grandmothers and special loved ones in your lives, both living and in God's care, I wish you a very happy Mother's day.

May God bless you,

Katie Hanes
