School Council Report
Old Orchard PS – Council Meeting March 2021
The new Old Orchard Primary School Council met for the first time on Wednesday 17 March 2021. We were delighted to welcome new members – Helen Carr, Jess Goldsmith and Dylan Johnson and to have school captains Health Harris and Reet Singh address the new council.
Principal Duncan Cant, along with Assistant Principal Rachel Barnes and staff members Olivia Curtis and Fiona Kirby presented an overview of the position of the school from financials and facilities to educational initiatives. The school is in a healthy position and we are looking forward to the upgrade to the main building roof, funded through a successful grant application from School Council in 2020.
A focus of the school council this year will be to increase involvement from parents. We believe a strong school community can positively impact the experience of all – students, parents and staff. Particularly after the challenges of 2020 the Council will be actively seeking ways to build up and enhance engagement. In Term 2 we will be relaunching Council sub-committees, in addition to the many ways to be more involved with the school.
The staff and Council at Old Orchard Primary School always welcome feedback. If you have any suggestions, questions or feedback for the Council you can contact the school office, the Principal or the School Council President.
We wish you a happy holiday and look forward to seeing you in Term 2.
Sincerely,
Michael Wong
