Sport

This weekend is Round 1 of the ISA Winter competition. All teams have been training hard and it will be exciting to have a full winter season this year.

We still need to adhere to COVID guidelines for sport therefore all players, spectators and officials are required to use the QR code relevant to their sport to sign into the school grounds.

These codes will be located on the table at the top of the stairs to the sports centre.

Please ensure that you are also social distancing around the grounds and accept any advice from the COVID Officer. Thank you in advance for your support.

Congratulations

Triathlon

During the holidays, Mirah Larkin (Year 12) competed at the Academy Games Triathlon day. Unfortunately, when attempting to overtake during the cycle leg of the race, Mirah hit a pothole and was thrown from her bike. She was taken to hospital however, thankfully, was cleared of any serious injuries and is now recovering from the scrapes and bruises. We wish her well in her recovery.

Athletics

Mirah Larkin was also to compete at the Athletics Australia – Australian Track and Field Championships during the holidays in the 2000m Steeplechase for the Under 18 Women’s age group. This was to be Mirah’s 3rd year competing at this event. Unfortunately, this event took place the day after her crash in the Triathlon event so she had to withdraw. Qualifying at this level is outstanding and we congratulate Mirah on this achievement.

Netball

Olivia Harris (Year 10) competed at the NSW Academy Games on the weekend of Saturday 17th and 18th April as a Netball Athlete. Her Western Sydney Academy of Sport Netball Div 2 Team were undefeated at the end of the weekend and Olivia was thrilled to be awarded MVP. Congratulations, Olivia, on your continued success in netball.

Uniforms

It is expected that the remainder of uniforms will arrive next week. Please go to the Uniform Shop on Monday to finalise any payments so that your uniform can be given to you upon arrival.

Cross Country

The BMGS Cross Country team was selected at the end of Term 1 and all students are required to return their note if they have not already done so.

If you do not own a BMGS Basketball singlet, you will need to hire a singlet from the uniform shop to compete in this Carnival. Please organise this as soon as possible.

Please come and see me in my office if you have any questions regarding upcoming sporting events.
