IGSSA Rowing Regatta 1

Below is the correspondence we received from IGSSA:

Due to the current State of Emergency regarding the current COVID-19 situation in WA, there will be some restrictions on IGSSA Activities for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately, the current restrictions do not allow a ‘carnival’ style event to take place at Venueswest facilities (as students awaiting their events are classified as spectators), so IGSSA is unable to proceed with the first regatta of the season at Champion Lakes on Saturday 1 May.

Whilst we understand that the restrictions may change as of 12.01am on Saturday morning, we have no guarantee that the situation will still allow our event to proceed. Given the logistical challenges required by our schools to action a change at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre with little notice, the committee have made the decision to reschedule this event.

We are hopeful that restrictions will be modified in the coming weeks to enable our students the opportunity to compete and are grateful to have secured an alternate venue booking at short notice in order to provide our rowers the opportunity to attend 5 Regattas this season. This regatta is now scheduled to be held on the 22 May (to be hosted by Perth College). The adjusted regatta season (assuming we meet COVID restrictions at the time) will now be:

Regatta 1 8th May 2021PLC Host school
Regatta 2 22nd May 2021PC Host School
Regatta 329th May 2021STH Host School
Regatta 4 12th June 2021 JTC Host School
Head of River 26th June 2021 MLC Host School

With the Regatta postponed, Years 9-12 Girls will train from 6:00-8:30am Saturday morning at the JTC Boat shed.
