PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

We are into Term 2 and already the year 5 students have enjoyed a fabulous camp and year 4’s have explored all kinds of learning at Scienceworks. They gave me the “thumbs up” when I asked how they went. As is expected, the staff said that the kids were terrific, showing our values of Respect and a Fair go for All at all times.

Year 5 camp has been a favorite experience for many of the students, with the flying fox mentioned numerous times. Congratulations to the students involved and thank you to the staff and parent volunteers whose support is crucial to the success of each and every camp we hold.

On a more individual basis, we want to celebrate that Ela 4/29 and Havana 4/30  competed in the Victorian Little Athletics State Championships on Saturday March 14. This was held at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park, with both girls representing Whittlesea Athletics Club.Congratulations to Ela and Havana who competed in the 1100m race walk in the under 10 age group. Ela came 1st with a time of 5 minutes and 20 seconds and Havana came 3rd with a time of 5 minutes and 54 seconds. Ela also broke the Victorian and Australian record which was held for more than 37 years. What great examples of Personal Achievement from both girls.

More exciting experiences for our students this term include the start of our Dance program with David Skinner this Friday. There will be every type of music resonating around the school; from jive to rock and roll.

Don’t read this mums, but we have a special Mother’s Day stall next Wednesday. The kids are excited. Thank you to our Coffee and Chat volunteers for organising and staffing the stall.

An Important Reminder:

Curriculum Day next Monday, May 03;

no students attend school. The staff will be working with our Literacy consultant Deb Sukarna to further our understanding and knowledge of the teaching of grammar.
