Year 7 Sports

A huge congratulations to our Year 7 sports teams that went out on Thursday the 18th of March.

We had 5 teams compete against other schools in our district.

Boys Cricket had a convincing win over Bundoora Secondary College, VBC made 252, whilst bowling Bundoora out for 83!

Both Boys and Girls Volleyball competed in a round robin tournament and went through undefeated! Students in the volleyball team trained for weeks leading up to the day, showing great teamwork and displayed excellent sportsmanship. Big shout out to their coach, Year 9 student Gabriel Morrissey and Year 7 student Declan Lawton, who also volunteered a lunch number of their lunchtimes to help prepare the Year 7s for their first inter-school sporting event.

Tennis came up against a hard hitting Macleod College, but managed to come away with a strong team and individual victory down at Macleod Tennis Club.

Year 8 Sports

Earlier this week the Year 8s went out on their first round robin of the year.

While the mixed cricket team was not successful, going out by 15 balls to Greensborough, all other teams had massive success.

Tennis, Baseball and Softball all came through with wins for their respective competitions, and advance to the next round.

At the start of next week (week 1, day 4 in fact!) our state swim team will be competing at MSAC - watch this space for updates!

Also, sport continues through the following weeks with round robins in Soccer, AFL, Netball and Badminton for all year levels, PLUS the cross country and athletics.

Term 2 is our biggest sports term, so keep an eye on the newsfeed for tryouts!

House Athletics Carnival ~ Monday 3rd May (Rescheduled)

The College will conduct its annual House Athletics Carnival on Monday 3rd May at Doncaster Athletics Track (George Street Doncaster East) commencing at approximately 10.00am.

This is an outdoor event, so please ensure your child/children bring sunscreen and other suitable sun protection, such as a hat, preferably in house colours, protective clothing and plenty of fluids for the day.

The canteen will be closed on the day - please remember to BYO lunch!

All students are expected to attend the Carnival and be aware of the following arrangements:

  • Students will report to school by 9.00am, ready to leave by bus to Doncaster by 9.15am.
  • All students are encouraged to wear their House colours to support their House.
  • This is a school event so the Education Department Mobile Phone Policy applies.

At the conclusion of the day, approximately 2.15pm, students will board the buses and return to school.

Programs for the day’s events will be available at the College Office soon.

Additional programs will be available through House Coordinators.

Please be advised that no body paint is to be worn ~ this is the bus company directive.
