Secondary 9/10 Camp Reflection

SCI Camp

Camp was a very good experience for the SCI class. Some of the students were excited and ready to go.

Students of SCI, SBF and SKL hoped on the bus on Wednesday 25th July to get to Forest Edge Camp. When students came to the camp site they unpacked and went to their cabins. They really loved their cabins.

Students had lots of fun in the activities doing hut building, crate climbing, and cooking damper. Hut building was a challenging activity because the huts needed to be waterproof. One student got wet during hut building because their hut wasn’t waterproof enough.

Snow day! Kids enjoyed the snow at Mount Baw Baw. Some of the kids were seeing snow for the first time. Some of the students went to go tobogganing. They really enjoyed it. Others chose to make snowmen and also throwing snowballs at teachers.

Last day! Students really enjoyed the flying fox, rock climbing, and also the low ropes course. Students were very tired after the big long camp and went back home safely.

SBF Camp

We went to the Forest Edge camp on 25th of July to the 27th of July 2018, we went to Mt Baw Baw on the 26th. The activities we did that were a lot of fun, there was crate climb where you are strapped in a harness and you climb up crates that are handed to you by your teammate, the goal is to get as high as you can, I got 7 crates. Another activity involving a harness is rock climbing, I only got halfway up until I couldn’t climb any higher because of a ledge and my hands were hurting. We also did the low ropes course which was easy at the start but a few were pretty challenging, it involved teamwork and balance to get through the course as there are two people who help you balance.

SKL Camp

Sarah “ Challenging  activities, and the Huskies were adorable”

Alvin “ Great friends”

Tino “ The Rock wall was awesome”

Ridwan “ I liked the Flying Fox”

Kelaiah “ It was fun”

Kris Lord “ A great time was had by SKL. It was our first time in the snow and it was awesome!”

SKL participated in three fun filled, action packed days. After an easy bus ride to Neerim South, and a quick lunch break, we jumped straight into the afternoon activities at Forest Edge Camp. We made a campfire, prepared, cooked then ate damper smothered in honey and jam. SKL honed in on their survival skills by building bush huts by the Latrobe River. The meals were very filling and delicious. In the evening we had a disco and watch our favourite movies. The Mt Baw Baw snow day was the best day yet! It was sunny and there was plenty of snow to play in. Tobogganing and making snow men were fun activities for the afternoon. The evening was spent relaxing and listening to Avechi and then later another movie. We were up early on Friday to fit in another round of activities including the rock wall, low ropes and the flying fox. Finally It was time to clean up and head home. Most students had a nap on the way home. SKL displayed excellent behaviour during the camp and I was very proud of their “I’ll give it a go attitude”. Well done SKL.
