October - Month of the Holy Rosary

The Holy Rosary is one of the most popular prayers among Roman Catholics worldwide. Its formal name is the "Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary."

October marks the month of the Rosary. The Holy Rosary is closely associated with Saint Dominic de Guzmán (1170-1221 A.D.), who founded the Order of the Dominicans. On October 16, 2002, Pope John Paul II, declared that 2003 would be the “Year of the Rosary”.  The Rosary is now made up of twenty decades of the Hail Mary, separated by an Our Father and a Glory Be and sometimes the Fatima prayer.  We usually break the rosary into four sets. The four sets are The Joyful Mysteries, The Sorrowful Mysteries, The Glorious Mysteries, and the Luminous Mysteries. One set is prayed on a rosary that has five decades. Each set is prayed on designated days of the week.

Please come and see the Prayer Space devoted to the Rosary in 3/4 RM.

Classes are praying the Rosary at different times throughout the month. If your child has some Rosary Beads they may bring them to school, but only with parent permission. We do not want any Rosary Beads lost.

Mini Vinnies - Farmers' Appeal

On the last day of term 3 we celebrated Footy Colours Day. Many of our students (and teachers) wore the colours of their favourite football team. We are very pleased to announce that as a result o the work of the Mini Vinnie students we raised over $420.00 on the day. A cheque for that amount has been passed onto our St. Vincent de Paul representative.

World Teachers' Day

On Monday 21st October we will be holding a Thanksgiving Prayer Service to celebrate World Teachers' Day. It will provide us with an opportunity to thank our teachers for the wonderful commitment and dedication they constantly provide our students.

Have a wonderful week
