Assistant Principal

The past fortnight has been full of celebrations for the Kingswood community.

  • The students in Years 4-6 had a great day at their District Cross Country Carnival with lots of students going on to represent Kingswood at the next stage
  • 13 students went to Japan and I congratulate each one of them for the resilience and maturity they demonstrated throughout the trip.  The second group are currently there enjoying the sightseeing, cuisine, culture, bullet trains and, of course, the fabulous Japanese hospitality
  • The whole school marked National Simultaneous Story Time by reading Alpaca with Maracas by Matt Cosgrove
  • The parents of our prep cohort for 2020 were invited to attend an information session where all the amazing experiences that lie ahead for their children were outlined
  • Our two school vice captains, Asha and Paxton, represented Kingswood at the Kingston Junior Mayor Elections.  They presented their inspiring ideas on how they would improve the world if they had a magic wand very eloquently and Asha was elected to the Kingston Junior Council.  She will represent the children of the area for the next 12 months and we are very confident that she will do a fantastic job.
  • We celebrated careers at our Open Night through engaging activities set up by parents of our community.
  • We held our parent information session on the theme of Family Wellbeing with 30 attendees on the night and another  227 via Facebook Live

There is always so much going on at Kingswood and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who put so much time and energy into making it all happen – staff, parents and community members.

I also have to apologise to Danielle D’Souza who provided all of the giant games that we used on our Family Fun Night – I failed to mention her in my last newsletter article.

Looking forward, our next fortnight is just as busy with Q&A with the Principal Class on June 19th, the next stages of the Division Cross Country Carnival, Subcommittee meetings, an opportunity for our staff to celebrate all of the work of the Professional Learning Communities, our Senior Education Improvement Leader visiting to do learning walks through the classrooms and lots more besides!

Parent Information Sessions

It was great to see so many people at our session this week on Family Wellbeing.  I will email the snapshot survey to everybody who registered, which will include a question on the topic for our session in Terms 3 and 4.  If you didn’t attend but would like to attend one of our sessions in Terms 3 or 4, please click here to vote.  The topics include:

  • Uncovering Child Anxiety and Depression
  • Raising a Resilient Child
  • Tools for Anti-Bullying
  • Raising a Leader

June Reading

This month’s ‘reading’ is actually a video – a range of primary school aged children are asked about their parents’ use of mobile phones.  Some food for thought for all of us!
