Stephanie Alexander Kitchen

Sonia Nista - Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Specialist

With our pasta menu done and dusted, we're now onto a brand-new menu using our beautiful pumpkins which Liz harvested with the Year 2s just a few weeks ago. They've been patiently sitting in our Stephanie Alexander shed, and are now perfect and ready to eat! These are awesome new recipes, which we tried when the foundation held a professional development day here at Kingswood Primary School back in February.

We are now making:

  • Pumpkin curry (Wattaka Kalu Pol)
  • Flatbread
  • Kale and silverbeet Mallung- Year 5 and 6

Surprisingly most students are loving the curry, but it’s interesting to see the difference that one or two years can make to their pallets, as I have noticed that our older students are really enjoying the flavours with no leftovers to be seen!

We’ve discussed that pumpkin is actually a fruit, not a vegetable, and how versatile this produce and their seeds really are. So delicious!
