Victorian State Schools Spectacular

On Wednesday 19th July an excited group of students and staff attended the Choir rehearsal at Melbourne Town Hall in the City. 16 in the Mass Choir with Ms Baker-Goldsmith and Mrs Mortimer and two students (Estelle Lipovetsky and Sophie Rowsell) in the Performing Arts Unit auditioned choir.

We will be attending further rehearsals this week along with Mikki Clemans in the State Schools Orchestra. These major rehearsals (along with the many hours of additional rehearsals and practice sessions that all groups involved have undertaken) are preparing us for the 2 performances at Hisense Arena on Saturday 16th September, first at 1pm and then later at 6.30pm.

One in five state government schools is participating in this year’s State Schools Spectacular, including over 1200 school students in the Mass Choir.

General Admission tickets are still available if you would like to attend:

Adult – $40

Child under 15 – $20

Concession – $30

To purchase tickets, visit www.ticketek.com.au/spectacular or phone Ticketek on 132 849.

Fame Jr Wrap Up

We would like to thank all of the staff, students and parents for their involvement in this year’s school production of Fame Jr. It was such a joy to see the excitement on everyone’s faces of being able to achieve the completion of a full school show in just 17 weeks of rehearsals.

The students performed 4 shows in total, with one matinee performed for local primary schools including Caulfield Junior College, Glenhuntly Primary School and Caulfield South Primary School. Many students in the cast and crew were quite excited about this due to attending one of those primary schools themselves, and having their siblings in the audience. Hopefully some of the primary school students (or even those from GEC) who came and enjoyed the show think about trying out to be on or behind the stage in the future.

A large proportion of the students who either performed or helped out with this year’s production have never performed in front of an audience before. It was fantastic that audiences could support them in this new journey. We hope that our production in 2018 will be as amazing as this year’s and that the talent keeps on developing.

Until next time, thank you again for all of your support - it couldn’t be possible without it. Now the planning for next year begins!
