The Centenarian Portrait Project by Teenagers

As part of the Victorian Seniors Festival skilled teenage artists have been partnered with centenarians to create their portrait. Two Glen Eira College students, Kali Appleby and Tahlia Delaney-Murnane, are participating in this wonderful project. The girls have met their partnered centenarians for the purpose of getting to know one another so they can then create a portrait.

Kali’s centenarian Anne Bernstein is 101 years old and resides at Gary Smogan nursing home in Caulfield. Tahlia and her centenarian Eric Edwards met but unfortunately Eric has since passed away. Receiving the portrait of Eric will be particularly special for his family.

Between 4th and 17th October, these portraits will be presented in an exhibition as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival at The Stables @ The Meat Market. The exhibition will present 100 portraits of centenarians from a diverse range of suburbs in Melbourne. The art works will then be gifted to the centenarians and their families.
