Careers Corner

It has been a busy term so far. The course counselling for next year has finished and I am seeing the Year 12s for their VTAC applications and University or TAFE preferences.

Channel Seven Media Careers Day

Glen Eira College was lucky to have 3 students accepted into the Media Careers Day held at the Channel Seven Studios at Docklands on Wednesday 23rd August. Sean Kelly (Year 10), Boris Pribil and Ashley Szmerling (Year 11), had an interesting day finding out about different jobs in Media.

"The Channel Seven Careers in Television Day was a great opportunity for those of us who are interested in pursuing a career in the media industry. The day started with a tour of the studios by the one and only John Deeks, which was a highlight for me, as it was quite entertaining hearing everyday talk in that iconic casting voice. There were brief presentations from the heads of each department, and then the opportunity to speak with them in a casual Q&A session. Some of the people who spoke to us were the heads of News, Production and Marketing, although there were about six different presentations spread throughout the day. There was also a really fun chance to have a crack at presenting the news and weather in front of the famous Channel Seven News desk that you all see daily on the television! Overall an amazing experience and a day I won't forget!"
