Jan Brunner (1999)

ECP graduates studying or working in the north of England now don’t have to travel to London to consult Czech Embassy officials. They can visit the new Consulate General in Salford, which was opened last month by the Czech Foreign Minister, Tomáš Petříček. Details of how to make an appointment can be found here:

Absolventi ECP, kteří studují nebo pracují na severu Anglie, nyní nemusejí cestovat do Londýna, aby se setkali s představiteli českého velvyslanectví. For 1999 ECP graduate and Deputy Czech Ambassador in the UK, Jan Brunner, the opening represented the culmination of three years’ work. It was an important visit for the Minister and involved not only the opening of the Consulate General, but also a meeting with the Mayor of Greater Manchester to discuss the possibility of regional co-operation and business opportunities for Czech firms and a dinner with several Czech émigrés who have successfully established themselves in various professions in the UK, helping to strengthen Czech-British relations.

Pro absolventa ECP z roku 1999 a náměstka českého velvyslance ve Velké Británii Jana Brunnera bylo toto otevření vyvrcholením tří let soustavné práce. Jednalo se o důležitou návštěvu ministra, která zahrnovala nejen otevření generálního konzulátu, ale také setkání se starostou oblasti Greater Manchester o možnosti regionální spolupráce i obchodní spolupráce pro české firmy či večeři s několika českými emigranty, kteří se úspěšně etablovali v různých profesích ve Velké Británii a pomáhají posilovat česko-britské vztahy.

Martin Čeněk (2000)

Martin Čeněk is an award-winning ECP graduate, who has just taken the 2019 BigSEE Architecture Award for his House with a Pond

Martin is another of the English College’s early graduates. He left in 2000 and graduated from ČVUT in 2006 with an Ing.arch, followed by a PhD in Sustainable Architecture in 2017. He combines working as a professional architect with his own practice, Martin Cenek Architecture, with the role of Assistant Professor and Researcher at ČVUT.

Martin Čeněk je oceněným absolventem ECP, který právě získal cenu za architekturu 2019 BigSEE Architecture Award za svůj dům s jezírkem.

Martin je jedním z prvních absolventů Anglického gymnázia. V roce 2000 zde ukončil studium a poté pokračoval na ČVUT, kde v roce 2006 získal titul Ing.arch. V roce 2017 obdržel doktorát v oboru udržitelná architektura. Martin kombinuje práci profesionálního architekta s vlastní praxí, Martin Cenek Architecture, s rolí asistenta a vědeckého pracovníka na ČVUT.

Adela Schicker (2004)

We are always keen to welcome graduates back into school to hear about their journeys since leaving the ECP. Adela Schicker’s recent talk to current students was not only interesting, but also very useful.

Vždy rádi přivítáme naše absolventy zpět ve škole, abychom se dozvěděli o jejich cestách od doby, kdy opustili ECP. Nedávná přednáška Adely Schicker pro současné studenty byla nejen zajímavá, ale také velmi užitečná.

Adela graduated in 2004 and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, Brunel University in London and the American University of Paris, before gaining practical business experience in America, China and Europe. In 2015, she founded her own company Procrastination.com which works with businesses to provide training on personal and corporate growth, based on scientific research. She now divides her time between Prague and New York and we were delighted that she was able to come into school to deliver a really motivating lecture, with lots of energy and useful tips on how not to procrastinate - particularly timely as we enter the exam season and students start their revision in earnest.

Her former teachers were delighted to see her and they all enjoyed catching up after nearly fifteen years. Adela also presented the library with a signed copy of her book The End of Procrastination.

Adela vystudovala ECP v roce 2004 a pokračovala studiem na Americké akademii dramatických umění v Los Angeles, na Brunel University v Londýně a Americké univerzitě v Paříži. Praktické obchodní zkušenosti získala v Americe, Číně a Evropě. V roce 2015 založila svoji vlastní společnost Procrastination.com, která spolupracuje s firmami na poskytování školení o osobním a firemním růstu na základě vědeckých výzkumů. Nyní rozděluje svůj čas mezi Prahu a New York a my jsme byli potěšeni, že mohla přijít k nám do školy, aby přednesla vskutku motivující přednášku, se spoustou energie a užitečných tipů, jak zamezit prokrastinaci - což je aktuální téma v době, kdy se blíží zkouškové období a studenti se začínají vážné připravovat.

Adeliny bývalí učitelé ji velmi rádi po téměř patnácti letech viděli. Adela také věnovala do knihovny podepsaný výtisk své knihy Konec otálení.

Michaela Edgerley Stovicek (2004)

Michaela also left the English College in 2004, to study International Management and Modern Languages at the University of Bath. To her BSc (Hons), she added an MSc in Advanced Management Practice and an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management, also from Bath University. Michaela is now making a name for herself in marketing, working for some of the biggest names in the business including Vodafone, Lufthansa AirPlus International and ABB. She has recently been appointed Head of Marketing for ING CZ and we are hoping to welcome her back into school very soon to speak to current students who are interested in a career in marketing.

Michaela také opustila Anglické gymnázium v roce 2004 a poté studovala mezinárodní management a moderní jazyky na University of Bath. Na stejné univerzitě si k titulu BSc (Hons) přidala i tituly MSc v pokročilé manažerské praxi a Executive MBA v Business Administration a Management. Michaela se nyní prosazuje v marketingu a pracuje pro některé z největších jmen v oboru, včetně společností Vodafone, Lufthansa AirPlus International a ABB. Nedávno byla jmenována vedoucí marketingu pro ING CZ a doufáme, že ji brzy uvítáme zpět ve škole, aby mohla pohovořit se současnými studenty, kteří mají zájem o kariéru v marketingu.

Lilia Khousnoutdinova (2005)

Lilia left the ECP in 2005 to study Modern History and Politics at Oxford University, and in the years since her MA in Gender & Development from the LSE, she has followed a fascinating career path as a writer, workshop leader and designer, with a fashion line inspired by traditional Bhutanese textiles. She is Chair of the Friends of Bhutan Society in the Czech Republic, promoting cultural and academic exchanges between the two countries and has just appeared in two Czech magazines, where the influence of this beautiful landlocked country on the southern slopes of the Eastern Himalayas can be seen in her home.

Lilia ukončila studium ECP v roce 2005 a poté se na Oxfordské univerzitě zaměřila na moderní dějiny a politiku. Magisterský titul v oboru Gender & Development později získala na univerzitě LSE. Od té doby prožívá fascinující profesní dráhu jako spisovatelka, vedoucí workshopu a návrhářka s módou inspirovanou tradičními textiliemi z Bhútánu. Lilia je předsedkyní Společnosti přátel Bhútánu v České republice, která podporuje kulturní a akademické výměny mezi oběma zeměmi. Nedávno se objevila ve dvou českých časopisech, kde můžete vidět vliv této krásné vnitrozemské země situované na jižních svazích východních Himalájí na design jejího domova.

Odessa Primus (2012)

Odessa Primus has given an interview to the E-International Relations website and you can read it here

Since leaving the ECP in 2012, Odessa Primus has been back into school to talk to current students about her volunteering and humanitarian work with refugees in Calais, Lesvos, and Lebanon.

She graduated with a degree in Global Politics and International Relations from Birkbeck College, University of London and now holds positions on multiple boards including the Czech & Slovak Club Alpbach, which she co-founded, and is Vice-Curator of the Global Shapers Prague Hub of the World Economic Forum.

Odessa is also the Executive Director of the Global Arena Research Institute and head of the Next 100 Symposium and ReDefine Next 100 global youth programme. GARI is developing a centre of excellence using advanced technologies (Artificial Intelligence/Deep Learning), to provide a deep and complex understanding of globalisation, and evidence-based decision-making tools. She runs GARI's annual flagship event the Next 100 Symposium and ReDefine Next 100 global youth programme.

She has received several awards recognising her contributions as a young leader including Young Leader for Europe at the European Commission’s European Development Days and she is regularly invited to Brussels by EU institutions as an expert on migration and new media.

Od roku 2012, kdy maturovala na ECP, se Odessa Primus již vrátila do školy, aby zde pohovořila se současnými studenty o své dobrovolnické a humanitární práci pro uprchlíky v Calais, na Lesbu a v Libanonu.

Vystudovala obor globální politika a mezinárodní vztahy na Birkbeck College v Londýně a nyní zastává pozice v několika správních radách včetně Czech & Slovak Club Alpbach, které spoluzaložila, a je zástupkyní Global Shapers Prague Hub Světového ekonomického fóra.

Odessa je také výkonnou ředitelkou výzkumného ústavu Global Arena Research Institute (GARI) a vedoucí globálního programu pro mladé Next 100 Symposium and ReDefine Next 100. GARI vyvíjí své centrum excelence s využitím pokročilých technologií (umělá inteligence/hluboké učení), které by poskytlo hluboké a komplexní porozumění globalizaci a rozhodovacím nástrojům na základě důkazů. Odessa řídí každoroční hlavní akci institutu GARI, což je již zmíněný program Next 100 Symposium and ReDefine Next 100.

Na Evropských dnech rozvoje, pod záštitou Evropské komise, získala několik ocenění, která jsou oceněním jejích aktivit v roli mladého vůdce, včetně ocenění Young Leader for Europe. Odessa je pravidelně zvána do Bruselu institucemi EU, jakožto odbornice na migraci a nová média.

Dominika Hasek (2014)

Some ECP graduates are following a similar career path to their parents. One who definitely isn’t, though, is Dominika Hasek (2014), daughter of the famous Czech hockey goalkeeper, Dominik Hašek. She is pursuing a musical career and here she is, being interviewed on Prima You can see her latest release Let Me Follow here.

Někteří absolventi ECP následují profesní dráhu svých rodičů. Jiným směrem se však vydala Dominika Hasek (2014), dcera známého českého hokejového brankáře Dominika Haška.
