Student Leadership News

Welcome to Term 2 everyone!

As you probably already know, it is starting to get cold and grey outside, and lots of us are starting to feel the effects of what we like to call the “Term 2 slump”. It may feel like your drowning in all the SACs and CRLTs that just keep piling up; and although it might feel nice to take a break and start a new show on Netflix, I’d like to remind you all, that consistency is key, and it’s important to keep pushing through the hard slog of term 2 and 3.

Here are some tips to help you through the “Term 2 slump”:

  • Listen to a podcast that relates to one of your subjects
  • Read over your notes, your next English text, or test yourself with flash cards on your trip to and from school
  • Stick up some posters relating to an upcoming assessment around the house, where you’ll see them regularly
  • Change your study location, this can bring new ideas or perspective to your studies. Try and keep school stuff out of your bedroom though, this should be a relaxing space, not a stressing space!
  • Look after yourself! Make sure you’re filling your body with what it needs and take some time to relax in between study sessions.

On the 25th of May, the MFG leadership team got together to take part in Geelong’s Annual ANZAC Day March down Malop St with Geelong’s Ex Service Women. It was an impactful afternoon for all of us, especially learning about soldiers from Geelong who had served in the war.

We would also like to reflect on our recent MMADDD Day. It was fantastic to see so many students attending and taking part in all the activities, particularly the concert!

Thank you to those teachers who put in so much planning and preparation behind the scenes.

Looking forward, we have Girls Education Week coming up fast, which includes some fun lunchtime activities such as ‘students teaching students’ workshops, as well as a Kahoot for the year sevens (clue: keep an eye out for some inspirational figures around the school).

We will also be running a pancake breakfast for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on HFC, Thursday the 23rd of May. Don’t forget to bring some spare change to purchase your pancakes and raise money for the Cancer Council. Our annual Sorry Day assembly will be held on Friday 24th of May during home group time.

See you there!
