Circle of Friends Book Club - every Monday (from 1pm in the library)

In it's second year, our MFG Circle of Friends Book Club is growing - we are up to 12 members so far. We meet at the big blue chairs in the library every Monday for half an hour of solid book chat about what we've been reading lately / new series and to make book recommendations for the library. When local bookshops bring book tubs for Miss Marshall to select books from our club members vote for their favourites to add to the collection. Many of our club members are avid attendees at Geelong Library and we bring along new series books / authors to share about - Miss Marshall then adds these to her book recommendations box for her monthly orders. If you are the one to recommend the book you are the first to get the book! The Library Club members help to build the MFG Library collection and we urge you to come to the reading club and join in. We currently have twelve members from years 7-10 and we'd love you to join us. Some students come every week and some others juggle other clubs and commitments.

Every week we attend Book Club we add a lucky star to the Circle of Friends Book Club poster. At the end of every term, we use an iPAD app to find some random coordinates and measure out with a ruler on the Book Club poster to see who is the winner of the $20 Dymocks book shop voucher (eg 20 across and 10 down). We are always looking for new members to join in so please come along!

Craft Club - every Tuesday and Wednesday (from 1pm in the theaterette F220)

Loopsie wool scarf making
Scrunchie making
Needle free knitting
Loopsie wool scarf making
Scrunchie making
Needle free knitting

We have completely adored our Loopsie Wool needle free knitting last term and this term - look how snug we all are with our scarves. Some of us made navy scarves to wear with our school uniform. Then we made whatever colour we wanted! The patterns came from Lincraft and we're all experts now!!! We'll do this again next year - to make sure all students are kept warm!

Now that new members have arrived this term, everyone who made their first scarves last term can help them. It's really relaxing. Next, we are going to knit matching Loopsie wool hats and sew scrunchies. In Spring term we'll be doing bead jewellery making and macrame weaving!! We are looking  forward to moving to the new library and getting a Club Space in the library to share with the Book Club members. We welcome new members anytime - some students come every Tuesday and Wednesday and some students can only manage one day a week. Come along with your ideas - we can learn new crafts together. We'll vote at the end of each term on 2 crafts for the next term.
