MMADDD DAY 2019

“LUNAR” MMADDD Day 2019
MMADDD Day was held on Tuesday 7th May to celebrate the Arts and, is an annual school event. This year due to the College Production being held in August, MMADDD Day was held earlier. MMADDD stands for Music, Media, Dance, Drama and Design, the Arts subjects offered at MFG.
The Lunar theme was chosen because 2019 marks the fiftieth anniversary of man’s landing on the moon. “One small step for man one giant leap for mankind.” (Neil Armstrong)
It was wonderful to see staff and students dress up for our “LUNAR” theme. We started the day in the Hall with a surprise “smoking” act by Mr Toussaint with Kendra singing a beautiful rendition of “Moondance”, followed by a delightful performance by the student brass ensemble as arranged by Bec Goring.
Workshops were then held for all students in years 7 to 12 to participate in. These included; Yoga, meditation, dance, slam poetry, karaoke, word and star installation, various games, mural painting, moon paintings, moon trivia, percussion beats, slap dancing, rockets, egg drops, constellation stitching, reflection books, and more. The artwork created on the day will be exhibited in our newly refurbished Embling building later this year.
Our VCAL students held food stalls at recess and lunchtime and successfully raised funds for their charity. Students also assisted staff with cooking a lunchtime BBQ. Year 12 student leaders ran lunchtime activities for our students on HFC and did a marvellous job engaging students and cleaning up.
The day finished off with an entertaining afternoon concert in the Hall with a variety of staff and student acts based on the Lunar theme.
House points were given to students for whole day attendance and points were tallied up to determine an overall House Winner. This year the winning House was GILMORE. This is the third straight win for Gilmore for MMADDD Day. Attendance overall was terrific with each House having 90% or more attendance.
Thank you to all the staff and in particular the Arts staff who organised the day and made it possible.
I would like to thank all students who attended and congratulate all who participated to make it our best MMADDD Day in the five years it has been held. Look forward to our next MMADDD Day in 2020 which will be on the Main Campus using our newly renovated buildings.
