Year 9 Indonesian - Krupuk Party
To make up for last time (mmm, durian, the king of stinky fruits), the Year 9 Indonesian classes had a krupuk party.
Krupuk are deep fried crackers made from starch and other tasty ingredients, and are very popular in Indonesia. We tried a whole range, like tapioca, cassava and tempe krupuk. They were all pretty delicious, and the most popular ones were the tapioca ones.

French Film Excursion
On Thursday, May 21 French students in Years 7, 8, 10 and 11 went on an excursion to the Village cinemas to see a special school screening of the recent French film ‘Le Petit Nicolas en Vacances’ (Little Nicolas’ Holiday). Based on a much-loved French children’s book, the film tells the story of Nicolas’ beachside holiday with his family in the 1950’s. Everyone seemed to enjoy the film and a member of the public rang the school to congratulate our students on their behaviour at the cinema. Bravo, les filles!
Nicolas Baudin Speaking Competition
Congratulations to Brynnie Rafe 9L, Sarah Collins 10D, Ebony Burt 11D and Sarah Tute 11B who participated in the Nicolas Baudin Speaking Competition in May. In particular, the French teachers would like to acknowledge the efforts of Brynnie Rafe of 9L who came equal first in the Year 9 competition. Brynnie prepared extremely well and impressed the examiner with her ability to hold a detailed conversation on the set topics. Félicitations, Brynnie!
The competition is organised annually by the Alliance Française de Geelong and students from local schools teaching French compete. The competition is named after Nicolas Baudin, a French explorer who charted some of the Australian coastline and collected scientific samples which were sent back to France. In April 1802 he met Matthew Flinders at Encounter Bay in South Australia.
LANGUAGE PERFECT COMPETITION
Recently many of our Language students joined in the Language Perfect Championships. Even though we didn’t compete officially, a number of students gave it a ‘red-hot go’ individually.
Congratulations to the following students:
