Attendance and Achievement:
As we progress to the middle of Term 1, I would like to encourage parents to help their child to reflect on school attendance and their academic progress. Progress Reports will provide you a brief overview of your child’s academic progress to date. Parents will be able to access the reports by next Monday 2nd March.
Along with this Progress Report, you will also receive feedback of your child’s progress at Parent-Teacher -Student Conference (26th March). There may be areas highlighted as needing improvement, and if so, please reflect on how much absences may have contributed to the situation. Absences from school do affect the continuity of your student’s education, and may contribute to adverse effect on their progress. When a student misses a class lesson, they lose the thread of the subject material.
Subject development is a sequential building process that relies heavily on a firm grasp of each section of material. When a part is missing the student finds it immensely difficult in learning the work and frustration can set in.
Should you require support regarding your child’s attendance or with regard to any other issue, please contact your child’s House Mentor immediately.
Encouraging Self-Empowerment:
As we approach the middle of this first term of the school year, students will invariably feel the pressure of assessments, assignments and their workload gaining momentum.
I would like to share with you some Self-Empowerment strategies that you can encourage your child to equip themselves to overcome the challenges ahead.
Self-empowerment is about:
I would like to remind students that there are many opportunities at school to help them throughout the course of the year in their learning journey to acquire skills in self-empowerment.
We have structures at school to support our students:
