Term 3 Reflection

Well done everyone for your application towards the various units of movement within Physical Education. Our Foundation to Level 2 students experienced Aquatics and Water Safety and exploring the various ways we can perform the skill of a One-hand strike.

Levels 3 - 6 also experienced the whole school continuum of Aquatics and Water Safety (building knowledge and developing rescue skills) and continued learning in Net and Wall Games.

Designing your own Sports Equipment

Late in Term 3, students from Years 2 - 6 had an opportunity to take part in challenge of designing and making their own sports equipment. The level of creativity was amazing!

Students across the Years 2 - 6 then had a chance to vote on what they felt was the best design and piece of equipment. The winning piece of equipment will be announced during Term 4 when voting finishes. The winner of the competition will receive a signed Cricket Australia shirt from Meg Lanning (Australian Captain), a trophy and an equipment sports pack. Well done to everyone who took part in the competition.

Learning in Term 4

Foundation to Year 2 students will experience lessons on the following fundamental movement skills:

Bounce
Ground level kick (Soccer)
Drop punt (Australian Rules Football)
Various two-hand strikes (connected to Pinata, Cricket and Tee Ball)

Years 3 - 6 will continue to develop their skills and game sense through a learning continuum of Invasion Games and Striking and Fielding Games. In these units students will continue to develop their fundamental, tactical, decision making and problem solving skills. Through social play they students will also work on the following:

Physical Literacy project

What is Physical Literacy? Physical literacy is about building the skills, knowledge and behaviors that give us the confidence and motivation to lead active lives.

We have been applying for various grants through our P.E. and Sport program in 2020 to build resources, training and further capabilities in our school to provide our students more opportunities to build their life skills through movement. So far we have received $13,300 dollars to spend on sports equipment and delivery support towards various movement projects. At recess across 4 days a week you will find Mr. Schultz out in the Prep - Year playground, in the gym with small-groups r out on 3- 6 oval playing music and facilitating activities or small-sided games with purpose to support movement outcomes. These sessions are all part of our Physical literacy project and support your child in more opportunities to take part in purposeful movement at school. We thank Sport Australia, the AFL and Cricket Australia with the Village Project and the Australian Olympic Committee for their support with content, training and funding for lots of new equipment.
