Connor's Run 2020
Hello Everyone,
As you may remember back in May, Melbourne Girls’ College for the 2nd year running, were awarded the reigning title for the Robert Conner Dawes Bird Brain challenge, raising the most funds out of the many participating schools. MGC’s enthusiastic participation helped raise over $20,000 for the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation.
The RCD Foundation continues to need our support and with September just around the corner, as in previous years, the MGC Philanthropy Team has created a team to participate in the 2020 Connor's Run.
Connor's Run is an annual event, held in September in memory of Connor Dawes who for 16 months battled with brain cancer before his untimely passing, shortly after graduating from Brighton Grammar School. The run is aptly named as a tribute to Connor. The RCD foundation raises vitally needed funds which go directly towards research, treatment and support for individuals and their families affected by this devastating disease.
In previous years Connor's Run has been an 18.8km or 9.6km marathon. However, due to COVID 19, Connor's Run needed to be re-imagined. This year’s Connor's Run will have participants run, walk, roll, hop, skip, jump or dance as much as they want in September 2020 in the safety of their own homes and neighbourhoods.
For all those excited to join, do it once, do it every day, just do it your way! Create your own vibe and all we ask is to make sure it’s more fun than run.
Follow the link https://www.connorsrun.com/events/tickets/ 6/event click on ‘join a team’ and find MGC. You’ll be taking your 1st step towards helping raise funds to turn the tide on the fight against brain cancer.
Connor’s personal story is inspirational, and the RCD foundation is a vital changemaker.

Best wishes,

The MS Readathon has started!!
The philanthropy club would like to encourage all members of the Melbourne Girls’ College community to sign up for the MS Readathon and help support kids who have a parent suffering with Multiple Sclerosis.
The MS Readathon runs for all of August and participants try to read as many books as they can to raise money for people suffering with MS. Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic and deliberating condition that attacks a person’s central nervous system and causes great pain and suffering.
Funds raised from the MS Readathon will help fund vital support services, like the special MS Family Camps. These camps provide an opportunity for kids who have a parent living with multiple sclerosis to spend quality time with their family, learn more about multiple sclerosis and bond with other kids who are sharing their journey.
You can sign up and join the MGC team at https://www.msreadathon.org.au/.
If you’re in year 7, make sure you sign up to your house team to win the house challenge and earn points for your house! So far, Lyons is in the lead having read over 15 books already!
If you have any questions, please reach out to the philanthropy team on Teams or Ms Tudor on 08833013@mgc.vic.edu.au
Thanks,
Scarlett, Saskia, Jay, Darby and the whole philanthropy team.
