The Arts

It has been another busy fortnight in 'The Arts'.

Some learning experiences have been:

The Foundations painting and making marks with hands and found objects.

Year 3/4 learning about the art movement ‘Fauvism’ which means ‘wild beasts’ in French. The artworks use very bright, unrealistic colours.

Students in the Ceramics elective have been learning hand-building techniques including pinch-pots, slab and coil construction.

In Performing Arts and Misic Year 1/2, 5/6 and 7 students have been practising a variety of drama skills through games and learning chords, strumming patterns and songs on the ukulele.

Next week classes will begin learning some cultural songs from Torres Strait Islander group Wyniss. All students from Foundation to Year 8 will be viewing a live interactive performance by the group on August 27th. Wyniss was due to visit our area supported by Musica Viva at the end of August but cannot travel from the Northern Territory due to Covid-19 restrictions.
