'We can try something new'

SEWING

During the first 4 weeks of term 4, Sarah’s home group have been working with their Pre-Service teacher Sam, learning how to sew. We have been trying some sewing during mindfulness time. The results have been fantastic, students can now thread a sewing needle, tie a knot at the end of the string and have learnt 2 different types of stitches.

As a result of this new skill, students have made their own pencil cases, scrunchies, mini pillows and their imaginations and ideas have been endless. Students have mentioned that they are confident that they can now fix their own clothing when they get a tear.

‘In mindfulness time we made pencil cases and scrunchies and I learnt how to make a rose. It has been fun and entertaining, now I know how to sew different things. I think it would be good for others to try.’ - Lucas

I really like sewing, I now know the different techniques of sewing and I think I could make my own t-shirt now! I have made a pencil case and a pen holder.’ - Paxton

CHEMICAL CHANGE

The 3-4 Learning Community has been investigating chemical change.

We have been forming hypothesis, observing change and then conducting the experiments in groups.
