Education Advisory Board

A Reflection on 2019
In 2019 the Education Advisory Board welcomed new members Kerry Cockburn, Trish Reginato, David Stegehuis and Alastair Williams. The EAB met 5 times over the year and some of the items discussed and considered included: staffing and administration, survey results, enrolments, NAPLAN and standardised testing results and 2020 fee structures and levels. In particular, the EAB was very pleased with the fantastic school NAPLAN and standardised testing results which indicated that students were generally operating well above state averages. Feedback from students, teachers and parents via the survey results was also very positive with some significant improvements in engagement with the parent community.
Earlier this year the EAB sought feedback on whether the school community would be interested in the implementation of a formal drop off zone to deal with issues of parking in the area. The limited feedback received was that morning drop-offs are generally not considered to be an issue. There was some feedback that afternoon pick ups were more difficult for finding parking. Due to the complexity of implementation and the resources required, at the time the EAB had decided not to proceed with a formal drop off zone. We do appreciate that with increased construction in the area that this has led to some recent parking changes. We do appreciate that this can cause some issues with parking from time to time, however, the strain on traffic flow and staffing resources of a formal drop off zone would have a greater impact at pick up. Thank you to those families who provided feedback.
In 2020 a key focus for the EAB will be the participation in the detailed school review by the Catholic Education Office as part of its usual four-year school improvement cycle. In respect of membership of the EAB, 2020, Trish Reginato will take over as EAB secretary from Amy Alston who will be finishing this year. We thank Amy for her considerable and valuable work with the board and her contributions to the P+F. The EAB will otherwise remain the same.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
Thanks,
