Grease is the Word at Calrossy

The end of Week 2 saw the final performance of Grease, after three previous showings during that week.

I know that those of us who attended greatly enjoyed the colour, energy and quality of the production. The audiences were delighted by the show. The students were stunning and got a lot out of their involvement and participation.

Such a production does not come together easily and is the result of much practice and hard work. I loved that we had students from Year 5 – 11 in the cast.

Congratulations to staff directly involved – Naomi Turner, Glen Fletcher, Elly Davies, Amanda Ward, Jen Jack, Peter Hardes – each involved in production, music, drama, choreography, costuming, general organisation and directing the students. It hasn’t been a one week effort but casting, rehearsing and preparation has taken months.  Many others supported in front of house, back stage, in organising programmes and all the logistics and more not mentioned – thankyou to all. Todd McDonald’s ‘Greased Lightning’ car work was also a feature.

There are countless others to commend in addition – but I want to acknowledge everyone who contributed to a great show, providing great enjoyment to both students participants and those who attended the performances. Thanks too to Primary and Secondary staff who worked around students out of class and interruptions to normal routine.

Thank you

David Smith - Principal

HRIS Music Cultural Festival

The Calrossy Music students have showcased their talents at the annual HRIS Cultural Festival held at the Hunter Valley Grammar School last week. Calrossy had 21 students performing in a Big Band, Choir, Wind Orchestra and Concert Band. Principal Mr Smith and Music Director Naomi Turner were both on hand to see the Showcase Concert and commented how well all of our students performed. Well done everyone.
