2019 Seaside District Athletics Carnival

On Wednesday the 11st of September the BRPS athletics team competed at the annual “Seaside District Athletics Carnival”.

With perfect weather on the cards, it was set to be an amazing day out! And not only was the weather in form, but so was the Back Rock athletics team. But dont let me brag about it, here is a little write up from some of the students;

"On the bus we were all nervous talking about the outcomes of the events we were competing in. As we got off the bus it was perfect conditions for athletics, we set up the tent and then went for a warm up lap. Off to a quick start Archie’s first event was hurdles which went really well. He still won even with a terrible start. Then we both had long jump which went so well as we got 1st and 2nd. Then Rowan had the 200 meter sprint and he smashed it and got 1st place. At the end of the day we competed in the 4 x100 relay with Arki and Oliver, where we won by six seconds, our time being 56.56 second. Overall it was an amazing day and also to top it off Black Rock won. Go Black Rock!"

"On the 12th of September a group of Black Rock students competed in the district athletics carnival at Duncan McKinnon Reserve. Soon enough we headed off to our events. We were both competing in shotput and discus however we were in different age groups. We both did our best and had so much fun, Anna coming first in shotput sending her through to divisions. After our event we sat down and started watching the other events that were on at the time such as the 200 m and relays. Everyone tried their hardest in all the events. One of the best things about the day was how great the weather was because it was warm and sunny and of course the excitement and support of the students. Overall the day was extraordinary and the parents and teachers worked so hard and that’s what made the day so amazing."

We are very proud of the students efforts and their victory. We hope that they can soak it all in as these don't come around that often!

The top performers in each event now go on to perform at the “2019 Kingston Division Athletics Carnival” at Duncan McKinnon Athletics Track on Wednesday 9th of October. We wish them the best of luck.

Go Yachts!!!
