Principal's Report

Hello BRPS community,

As this is the final newsletter this term, I would like to take the opportunity to say congratulations to the students, staff and wider community for once again working together to enjoy a very successful term of learning and growth. As we head towards the end of term and into the September holidays, we're hoping for a couple of weeks of sunshine and warmer weather to enjoy the break.

BRAVO - 2019 Concert "Level Up"

What a resounding success this year's concert extravaganza has been.

The students put on a magnificent show that would not have been possible without full community support. It is impossible to single anyone out for thanks, however I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all staff and parents who put in many, many hours of voluntary effort to ensure such a high-quality show and ensuing sense of accomplishment that the students experienced.

Please see the concert page for an additional report.

2020 Enrolments

Please notify us at your earliest convenience if you know that your child will not be enroled at BRPS next year.

Our projected enrolments help to determine class structure and staffing requirements.

**Early confirmation of student numbers is essential to ensure this process is managed effectively.**

We are continuing to accept enrolments for all year levels for the 2020 school year. If you are aware of families intending to enrol that have not done so as yet, please encourage them to pick up an enrolment pack from the office or arrange a tour of the school.

End of Term - Early Dismissal

Parents are reminded that as next Friday, 20th September is the final day of term, students will be dismissed at 2.30pm. Please ensure that you have suitable arrangements in place for pick-up at this earlier time.

Year 4 Camp

Year 4 students and teachers head off on their annual camp to Ballarat next week, visiting Sovereign Hill and staying at Cave Hill Creek. We wish them well on their big adventure from Wed 18th - Fri 20th September!

Footy Coin Line Day

What a wonderful day we had yesterday for the footy coin line. There was a lot of competition between teams for the longest coin line, with the mighty Hawks ending up with the longest line. Most importantly, thank you to all who donated coins as over $1500 was raised and will be split to support two charities chosen by the Student Action Team.

  • My Room Foundation - supporting kids with cancer all around Australia.
  • EB Research Foundation - Epidermolysis Bullosa is a debilitating skin disorder and life sentence for children and families who live with the pain day in day out. The donation will support science & medical research that will lead to products and therapies for treating and ultimately curing EB.

Thanks to Mr Muller for organising the day and all of the games and activities, such as the inflatables and the kicking/handballing competitions.

Finally, the day concluded with the now traditional 'Footy Parade'. Students and teachers proudly paraded their colours for all of the school to see.

Student Achievements - Congratulations...

National Athletics Championships

Best of luck to Archie O (High Jump) and Mia G (200m) who will be competing at the National Athletics Championships in September. Good luck, what an amazing achievement and experience.

Victorian Under 12 Cricket Team

Just as the Australian Cricket team has wrapped up another victory in the latest Ashes series, one of our passionate cricketers has been selected to represent Victoria in the U12 team at the National Cricket  Championships in November.

Congratulations to Alex P., we wish you well in your role as batsman/wicketkeeper!

District Winners - Athletics

Duncan McKinnon Athletics Centre

I'm proud to announce that Black Rock PS were the overall winners of the Seaside District Athletics Carnival on Wednesday. Congratulations to the 68 students from Year 4-6 who represented Black Rock PS at the District Athletics event yesterday. There were many sensational individual and team efforts, with all students  putting in their best efforts when running, jumping, throwing or cheering!
