Summary Report "Global Celebrations of World Patient Safety Day, 17 September 2020"

WHO have prepared a summary report 'Global Celebrations of World Patient Safety Day, 17 September 2020' which provides a snapshot of the WPSD 2020 celebrations around the world. 

 

 

Please feel free to provide any feedback on major gaps in information in the draft report. 

 

Based on the information shared on the WHO Global Patient Safety Network and also through web and social media searches, early data shows more than 88 countries organized major spectacular events and observed the Day in a multitude of ways in engaging different stakeholders at all levels of health care, both in public and private sectors. 

 

More than 130 iconic buildings were lit up in colour orange from around the globe. Several partners released key publications (links in the summary report) and organized virtual events and conferences at a large scale. A plethora of educational events and public awareness activities were organized. Others included visual displays, pledges and music performances. 

 

On 17 September 2020, WHO Headquarters launched a landmark Charter “Health worker safety: A priority for patient safety”. 

 

WHO are counting on all of our support to disseminate the Charter “Health worker safety: a priority for patient safety”  and to Sign up for the Charter

 

In an effort to bring about positive change in practices at the point of care, WHO also launched five World Patient Safety Day Goals 2020-21  which facilities can endorse by Sign up to the Goals, and adapt for implementation.
