The Robert Shepherd Award

Year 7

The year 2000 was an important one for Robert Shepherd. He was elected School Captain and Ballantyne House Captain, and at the end of the year was honoured to be named Dux of Year 12, and also received the Caltex Best All Rounder Award. He went on to study Civil Engineering at the University of Adelaide for three years before deferring for a year. He was to return to University in 2005 but died tragically in a car accident in October 2004.

Robert always gave one hundred percent to everything he did.  He knew he would never be the champion of the team but loved being a part of that team. It was this characteristic which won him the Open Boys swimming title in his final school year – this motto of “having a go”. Robert had a smile for everyone and was always willing to assist where he could.

With the above in mind the Shepherd Family have given this award in Robert’s memory for a Year 7 student who always tries to do their best in whatever they do at Edenhope College. This is an award for “giving it a go”.
